Craig Misch, DDS, MDS, PA, Chair, Education Committee
Dr. Craig M. Misch graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. He then received postgraduate certificates in prosthodontics and oral implantology as well as a Master of Dental Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Misch acted as Co-Director of the University of Pittsburgh Oral Implantology Center until he entered specialty training in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He completed this residency in 1999 and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as well as Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology. He currently practices as a dual specialist in Sarasota, Florida. Dr. Misch is a Clinical Associate Professor at New York University in the Department of Implant Dentistry and at the University of Florida in the Departments of Periodontics and Prosthodontics. Dr. Misch is a member of the editorial boards of International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants, International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry, Implant Dentistry and the Journal of Oral Implantology. He has authored over 45 publications including 14 textbook chapters. Dr. Misch lectures extensively on the topics of reconstructive surgery, bone grafting, implant surgery and prosthodontics and has been designated as a “Leader in Continuing Education” by Dentistry Today.
Paul Tiwana, DDS, MD, FACS
Paul Tiwana is an Associate Professor in UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Department of Surgery and the Director of UTSW’s residency program in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Tiwana joined UT Southwestern in 2010. He currently is the Chief of Pediatric Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Children’s Medical Center and Medical Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Parkland Memorial Hospital. Dr. Tiwana’s clinical practice focuses particularly on corrective jaw (orthognathic) surgery, facial fractures (craniomaxillofacial trauma), and the surgical management of various head and face (craniofacial) syndromes. He is frequently called upon to lecture on those subjects, and he has contributed numerous scientific articles to professional journals and other publications in the oral and maxillofacial surgery field. A Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of both the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Tiwana serves on multiple national committees that are educationally focused on the specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Myron Tucker, DDS
Dr. Tucker is an editor and co-author of eight textbooks on Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. These textbooks have been widely used throughout the United States and other countries with the book translated into Portuguese, Korean, Polish, Japanese, Chinese and Italian. He has also written 35 chapters in ten other books. Dr. Tucker has been very active in clinical and basic science research and has written over 50 publications in scientific journals. He has been the primary investigator or a significant contributor on several large grants, supported by both NIH and medical corporations, totaling over $5 million. Dr. Tucker has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally on many subjects with his primary focus on orthognathic surgery.
Daniel B. Spagnoli, DDS, PhD
Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Journal and AAOMFS Knowledge Update. In 2005 and 2006, he co-authored two award-winning papers published in the Journal of Periodontalology and the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. His most recent article, "Dental Implants and the Use of rhBMP-2," which appeared in the May 2011 issue of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinics of North America, was reprinted in Dental Clinics of North America that same year. His research, numerous lectures, and continuing education courses are focused on temporomandibular joint disorders and surger, tissue engineering, and preprosthetic surgery. Dr. Spagnoli, who was formerly the Chair at LSU-New Orleans, is now in private practice in North Carolina.
